About FROBAW

FROBAW is:

  • The biggest environmental group in the Bradford on Avon area.
  • A volunteer, non-profit, not for reward environmental group whose nature of business is woodland protection and nature reserve activities.
  • For the benefit of the residents of Westwood, Avoncliff, Bradford on Avon and the wider public, to ensure the preservation of Becky Addy Wood (BAW).
  • To advance the education of the public and the local community regarding the protection of ancient woodlands and their biodiversity, for mutual benefit and to help strengthen the protection and regeneration of ancient woodlands.
  • To work alone or in partnership with any other responsible environmental stewardship to improve woodlands including access, recreation, conservation, environmental and cultural matters.
  • To encourage community involvement in the management of BAW.

Becky Addy Woods Funding History:

  • FROBAW committee set up and started fund-raising in March 2020, in conjunction with Westwood WATCH committee and core group of early FROBAW members.
  • FROBAW put a notice in CfB newsletter Climate friendly Bradford.
  • We did not finally decide to transfer funds to Bradford on Avon Town Council until 27 April 2020, following the signing of a detailed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between BOATC and FROBAW detailing FROBAW’s partnership in the management of Becky Addy Woods.  Memorandum of Understanding
  • On 30 April 2020 FROBAW transferred £30,000, 67% of the purchase funds for Becky Addy Woods, to BOATC, conditionally on agreement of the MOU. £7,000 was contributed by BOATC, £5,000 from the Area Board and £3,000 from BOA Preservation Trust.
